Désigne celui qui est originaire d'un lieu-dit la Grillière ou qui en détient la seigneurie. C'est un toponyme fréquent dans le Berry, le Poitou, le Limousin et le Rouergue. A noter l'existence d'un château de la Grillière à Faye-la-Vineuse (37). Forme voisine : Lagrillère (36, 81). Signification : lieu où chantent les grillons.
